War doesn’t end when the weapons fall silent. In this seminar, we explore how war-related trauma, silence around emotions, and alcohol use intersect – and how this impacts not only men, but also women and children.

Drawing on a new report comparing Ukraine today with Bosnia and Herzegovina post-war, and findings from Asia and Africa, we highlight a recurring and largely unspoken pattern: many men returning from war carry untreated psychological wounds, often masked by alcohol, rooted in destructive masculine norms.

We ask: how can early support for men in trauma also protect the rights and safety of others – especially children?

Expect a dynamic session that invite the audience to be part of the solution. Organised by IOGT-NTO Movement, Tankesmedjan Nocturum, Rädda Barnen och Centar Za  edukaciju mladih. This session invites professionals, students and policy-makers to rethink peacebuilding from a public health, child rights and gender equality perspective.
